HRCSAS
History of HRCSAS

Hull Rape Crisis was set up in 1983 by a group of women who had experienced some form of sexual violence. These women worked as a collective and came from a range of diverse backgrounds and professions. They would take turns to answer phone calls and support women who accessed the service, from a small room in a house in Peel St. Over the last 36 years the demand for this service has grown considerably with the media reporting sexual violence such as the Jimmy Savile case, the Rotherham grooming case, to name but a few, and the fact that sexual violence has been well documented in the soaps. This leads to women and girls coming forward and wanting to either report or seek support for a horrendous crime that they have been victim of.
